Let's start a movement to have Jay Leno serve as host of Top Gear USA. Or how about his own car/comedy/celebrity show like Top Gear, but only Leno as a host. It could be called Opposite Lock, with Jay Leno!

In the very beginning of TGUSA, I wanted to replace that one "comedian" guy with Jay.

Opposite Lock as a TV show or at least streamed show with Leno as host sounds like an awesome idea!

IIRC Jay didn't think Top Gear USA would work, and deliberately didn't want to be a host on there (probably didn't want to be associated with something he believed would fail). I think a problem with Jay being on the show is that he's filthy rich and already owns a ton of cars. I don't think the audience can relate to Jay as they can with someone like Jeremy, Richard, or James, who (despite being plenty wealthy now) are a lot more civilian and relatable than Jay. Not that I would mind.
If I have one complaint about Jay, it's that on his show Jay Leno's Garage, he seems way less interested in the cars he reviews when they aren't cars he actually owns. He shows a lot more passion and enthusiasm for cars he personally owns, especially his vintage ones.

Jay Leno's Garage needs to be on Velocity

He would deserve his own show, not a Tg copy. 10/10 would watch

Leno: Yeah, here's a new GT3 that goes zero to sixty in... Ah, who cares. Let me show you my steam-powered antique car!! Now THERE is a car with torque!!

In other news, I love how extremely car oriented Velocity has become. It's 10x the car channel "Speed" ever was. It started out as HD Theater, pretty much a "if it doesn't fit anywhere else on the Discovery line of channels, put it here" showcase of HD content that has just blossomed into a pretty sweet automotive channel. Chasing Classic Cars is a great show, and I really enjoyed the Mecum auto auctions while they lasted.

That's what I'm thinking. But a fully produced high quality entertainment show ala Top Gear UK and Tonight Show. Jay has star power to attract the biggest stars, and could make real comedy out of a car show. It could rival Top Gear UK if done right. That's why I though a re-made Top Gear USA given to Jay to host would be killer.

I wanted to replace all of them with someone else. I am sure they are all great in their own way but they don't bond together like the UK hosts.
Rutledge is the only one that seems to be a decent presenter for the show. Tanner is a race car driver and the way he presents the show makes me want to punch him in the face.
Adam is a comedian and although he has proper TV appearance, he doesn't know much about cars and it shows.
As far as this discussion goes, I don't think Jay Leno should associate himself with Top Gear. He has Jay's Garage which is a cool show in itself. Perhaps he should expand on that and make it a talk show with cars. I noticed that Top Gear US did away with guest interviews and now do shows with only challenges. I admit that challenges were the most exciting part of Top Gear for me but it's nice to have guest interviews and the news thrown into the mix.

Never going to happen.
"Cars are my hobby. Television is my job. When you make your hobby your job it becomes a whole different thing," he wrote. "For me, my great release from any sort of pressure is to go to my garage."

I don't want to see Jay Leno on TV ever again. He's about as funny as child abuse.

Leno is way too rich and way too soft to put up with the level of suffering that makes Top Gear great.
